Two Hands Experiences
In the August 2016 issue of Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate (#226), reviewer Lisa Perrotti-Brown has tasted and scored 11 of our current release wines.
All 11 tasting notes and scores are available below.
Pale to medium garnet in color, the 2013 Grenache Aerope offers a gorgeous perfume of kirsch, red roses, black raspberries, white pepper and baking spices with a touch of orange peel. Full-bodied, rich, opulent and oh-so-decadent, it has a lovely cushion of velvety tannins and plenty of freshness to lift the long, multi-layered finish.
Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2014 Shiraz Coach House Block offers a lovely perfume of crushed wild blueberries, black cherries and violets with touches of menthol, pepper, anise and cloves. Full-bodied with great freshness and finesse of tannins yielding a wine of great elegance, it has layers of youthful black fruits and earthy characters, finishing with excellent persistence.
Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2014 Shiraz Wazza’s Block has a wonderfully savory nose of Marmite toast, Bovril and aged meat over a black currant, black plum and licorice core with a waft of incense. Full-bodied, rich and decadent, the tannins are wonderfully fine and there is plenty of freshness here to lift the palate and extend the layers to a very long finish.
Deep purple-black in color, the Shiraz Heartbreak Hill offers an invigorating nose of crushed cherries, red currants and mulberries with hints of Provence herbs, aniseed and fenugreek. Medium to full-bodied and with lovely elegance in the mouth, it has very finely grained tannins and beautiful poise with the freshness lifting the long finish.
Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2014 Shiraz Samantha’s Garden is redolent of crushed blackcurrants and black cherries with violets, cloves, anise and menthol suggestions. Full-bodied, rich and seductive in the mouth, it fills the palate with plush, velvety tannins and layers of perfumed fruit, finishing long with a lively lift.
Very deep garnet in color with a purple hint, the 2014 Shiraz Max’s Garden offers a gorgeous baked cherries, plum preserves and dark chocolate scented nose with hints of licorice, spice box and potpourri. Medium to full-bodied with a real richness of flavor and expression as opposed to heaviness, it has a velvety texture and wonderfully long, spicy finish.
With a gorgeous nose of honeysuckle, jasmine, lime cordial and spiced apple slices, the 2015 The Boy Riesling explodes on the palate with vibrant citrus, spice and perfumed flavors, finishing with exhilarating persistence.
The 2015 Riesling The Wolf offers an exuberant nose of squeezed lemons and grapefruit with a lime leave and orange blossom undercurrent. Light-bodied, bone dry and with a racy backbone of acidity, it delivers mouth filling citrus flavors and great length.
The deep garnet-purple colored 2015 Shiraz Angel’s Share opens with classic blueberry tart, chocolate box and licorice notes with a fragrant perfume of violets. Full-bodied, rich and decadent in the mouth, and yet eminently drinkable, it delivers a lot of fruit supported by velvety tannins and freshness that carries through the long finish.
Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2015 Gnarly Dudes Shiraz is open for biz, sporting an expressive nose of blackberry preserves, kirsch and wild blueberries with underlying anise and cloves hints. Medium to full-bodied and with a soft-spoken structure that frames the fruit nicely, it bursts with black and blue berry flavors, finishing long and spicy.
The 2015 Sexy Beast Cabernet Sauvignon is redolent of crème de cassis, black forest cake and menthol with a waft of cigar boxes. Full-bodied, concentrated and full-on “sexy,” as the name suggests, I like the firm, ripe tannins in the mouth that support the generous fruit very nicely through the long finish.
